One tap per pupil
- Open the photograph. The red-eye fix is already armed on this page.
- Press Z to look at 1:1 if the eyes are small in the frame.
- Tap the centre of the first red pupil. A numbered tag lands on it.
- Tap the second. Each eye is its own record, so one can be removed without the other.
- Drag the seam to compare, then save.
The fix pulls the red down to the level of the other two channels inside a small disc, feathered at its rim, so the iris around the pupil keeps its colour. It does not paint a black circle and it does not invent a catchlight.

Questions about red eye
- Why does it say “No red eye under that tap”?
- Because it checked before writing anything. Inside the disc the red channel has to stand well above green and blue; when it does not, the tap is refused and the photograph is exactly as it was. Tap nearer the centre of the pupil, or zoom to 1:1 with Z first.
- Does it work on pets' eyes?
- Only when the glow is red. Cats and dogs often reflect green, yellow or white, and this fix only pulls red down, so it will refuse those with nothing changed.
- Can I fix red eye on a passport or visa photo?
- Most document-photo rules ask for an unaltered photograph, and a flash that caused red-eye is usually a reason to retake it. Check the rules of the office you are applying to before you edit a document photo at all.
